What Springs to My Mind

What Springs to My Mind

It’s been a while since I wrote a blog post. I had good intentions of writing one sooner, but it just didn’t happen. Hopefully, I’ll write posts a bit more often from now on, but we’ll have to wait and see if that actually happens.

Since the last time I posted an update, I’ve done quite a bit of writing. I wrote one flash fiction piece and two short stories that I submitted to different places. One of the short stories is a fantasy story about a magical mishap that I thoroughly enjoyed writing. I haven’t heard back from the anthology I submitted it to yet. If they do not accept it, I’m hoping to have it published elsewhere.

The press I submitted my YA Christian manuscript to did not accept it, but they said they would be willing to look at it again if I made revisions. Over the last couple months, I worked on those revisions. Then, I edited, proofread, and submitted my manuscript to that press again. Making the revisions was difficult, but I like the way they turned out.

I also completed my first round of revisions on my YA fantasy novel and sent it to my beta readers. I’d like to give a shout out to Mrs. Nancy and my good friend, Hannah, for reading it and giving me feedback. Using their feedback, I edited my novel, then proofread it. I actually just submitted the manuscript to a literary agent today. It’s exciting to finally be to that stage of the process! Now I feel like I can start working on the second book in that series sometime soon.

Lately, I’ve been reading quite a bit of Merlin fanfiction. I’ve found some great stories, mostly AUs (alternate universes) where Arthur finds out about Merlin’s magic. Some of my favorites are set a few years down the road when Merlin is Camelot’s court sorcerer. While I love BBC’s Merlin, I am not a fan of the way the series ended, so reading these fanfiction stories has been fun.

I find it so adorable when Amy and Ivy cuddle together!

My kitties are all still doing well. Since I am writing this post in the afternoon, most of them are sleeping right now. They take afternoon nap time very seriously.

I work at a school, and this week is spring break. My week has been more productive than relaxing, but I’ve still enjoyed my time off. School starts again on Monday, but there are only seven weeks until summer.

I hope everyone is having a great spring! If you enjoyed this post, please subscribe to my blog to see more like it.
