My Summer Reading List

My Summer Reading List

As much as I loved to read when I was young, I didn’t always enjoy reading books from my school’s summer reading list. During the summer, I felt like I should be able to read whatever I wanted, and that didn’t usually include the books the school recommended. I did find a few unexpectedly good books by doing my summer reading though.

As an adult, I get to choose everything I read, and I’d like to share the books I’ve read and am still hoping to read this summer, though I may not have time for all of them.

1. More Than Words Can Say by Karen Witemeyer: This book is the sequel to More Than Meets the Eye, a book I really enjoyed. I love reading Karen Witemeyer’s books because they always contain relatable characters, a splash of humor, and a happy ending. What more could you want in a book for relaxed summer reading?

There’s more to Luke than meets the eye, too.

2. The Reluctant Warrior by Mary Connealy: I’ve enjoyed every book I’ve read by Mary Connealy. They are always full of humor of humor and adventure. This book is the second in the High Sierra Sweethearts trilogy. The first book, The Accidental Guardian, was great, and I’m sure this one will be, too.

3 & 4. Star Wars Clone Wars: Gambit by Karen Miller: I’ve already read…well, listened to…this duology this summer. It includes two books, Stealth and Siege. They tell the story of a dangerous mission Obi Wan Kenobi and Anakin Skywalker undertake during the Clone Wars. These novels are two of my favorite Star Wars books because they delve into the friendship between these two amazing Jedi.

5, 6, & 7. Star Wars: The Jedi Academy Trilogy by Kevin J. Anderson: I saw this trilogy the last time I was at Barnes and Noble and thought it looked fascinating. It is part of the Legends timeline and is set several years after The Return of the Jedi. It tells the story of Luke setting up his new Jedi Academy and the many struggles he and and the others face during that time.

8 & 9. The Fisherman’s Children by Karen Miller: As much I loved Karen Miller’s Star Wars books, I want to read some of her other works. The Fisherman’s Children includes two books, The Prodigal Mage and The Reluctant Mage. The books focus on a brother and sister who are trying to use magic to save their land. I think they will be awesome!

10. Now and Forever by Mary Connealy: This is the second book in the Wild at Heart trilogy. I’ve read all three, but the second is my favorite. It focuses on a former soldier named Shannon Wilde, who falls in love with Matthew Chandler, a mountain man with a good heart. I look forward to rereading this book soon.

Taiyo is curious if I’ll feed him now and forever.

Those are the ten books on my summer reading list. What are yours? Let me know in the comments.
