I know I’m a few days late, but in honor of Thanksgiving, I’ve decided to make this post a list of things I’m thankful for. If I tried to list all of my blessings individually, the list would be much too long, so I’ll be grouping some together and leaving some out. Now, without further ado, I’m thankful for…
- My Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, without whom I would be altogether lost.
- My amazing husband, who loves and supports me no matter what.
- My parents, who continue to always be there for me.
- All my other family members, including my brother, grandparents, aunts, uncles, and cousins. I don’t get to see them often, but I love them all dearly.
- My fellow Musketeers. We have been close friends since college, and I pray that will be true always.
- The many friends I’ve had over the course of my life. Some I am still in touch with and others I’m not, but I am thankful for each and every one of them.
- My sweet kitties. I am so thankful for Jake, Luke, Taiyo, Amy, and Ivy who daily make my life better and for Esme, who was only with us for a short time but will forever be in my heart.
- My job as an educational sign language interpreter. Though I find it frustrating at times, my job allows me to help students have a brighter future and use ASL (American Sign Language) on a daily basis…and earn a paycheck, of course.
- The opportunity and desire to write. Creating my own stories and writing them down captivates me in a way few other things can. I am grateful for everything that makes that possible from my laptop to the imagination God gave me.
- All of my basic needs are met. I am thankful to live in a country where things like clean water and food are available and that I am able to afford them.
Now that I’ve listed the more serious things I’m most thankful for, I’d also like to mention ten smaller things that just make my life more enjoyable. I’m thankful for…
- Dr. Pepper
- Spring weather
- Good stories (books, shows, and movies)
- Chocolate
- Songs I can relate to
- Wind
- Macaroni and cheese
- Comfy pajama pants
- Cheesecake
- Owls
Writing this post made me feel happier than I was before I wrote it. Counting my blessings almost always has that effect on me. Whenever you’re feeling down, you might want to give it a try.
